Everyone that is into cardio workouts has their personal favorite, and we feel that the best are the one you can enjoy and look forward to doing three to four times a week. If you look forward with anticipation to your next cardio workouts, most of the battle against fat loss will be won. However, each have their advantages and we will break down the best cardio workouts at home, then at the gym to lose body fat.

It is one of the less strenuous forms of cardio workouts, and would be excellent for the person working their way back to greater fitness. Walking can burn up to 180 calories in 30 minutes, and can be enhanced by sprinting or jogging short distances or briskly walking up steep inclines. If you swim, it is recommended to do it on a regular basis as it will be important to build up your stamina for swimming. Racquetball is not only fun and challenging, but a 30 minute session can burn 400 calories. Elliptical trainers are great for building endurance, and can burn about 300 calories in 30 minutes if used on the middle to high resistance.

One of the great advantages of going to the health club is most of the cardio workout equipment has pulse monitoring devices that are quite accurate, which takes much of the guesswork out of knowing if you are staying in the high intensity cardio zone.

Which brings us to devices that measure calories burned and body fat loss. Reports of the accuracy of these devices vary widely, and although there is equipment that can measure calories burned accurately, it is very expensive laboratory equipment not designed for personal use. Until something better is developed through technology, we will still use the heart rate to monitor our cardio exercises.
